Health Care Careers

Students interested in a health care career program should register in person at Brookhaven College to ensure they receive all information necessary for their success in the program. The Workforce and Continuing Education Division Office is located in Building W, Room W109, at Brookhaven College, 3939 Valley View Lane in Farmers Branch.

Some courses involving a clinical experience require a background check and drug screening that must be completed no more than 30 days prior to the start of the clinical experience. Specific instructions will be provided at the time of registration. Students who do not pass both the criminal background check and drug test will not be allowed to continue on to components.

For any course with a clinical component, students must have the hepatitis B vaccine and PPD tuberculin test prior to registration. Brookhaven College requires proof of both the PPD tuberculin test, which must be less than six months old, and immunization for the three-dose hepatitis B series. If students had a previous positive PPD test, documentation or history of treatment is required.

Some of the health career courses with a clinical component will require the purchase of liability insurance. The cost for the fall semester is $11.70, spring semester is $8 and summer semester is $5.
