During this opening session, you will learn best practices as they relate to the DCCCD Guided Pathways to Success (GPS) initiative.

Event participants will be given a panoramic view of overarching goals of the guided pathways movement and how they affect the student experience. 

Dr. Nutt will address best practices for maximum efficacy. Participants will gain a greater understanding of :

  • National standards for advising and career planning competencies as defined by NACADA and best practice,
  • How advising and career exploration intersect,
  • The role of faculty in a Guided Pathways environment,
  • The importance of transfer pathways,
  • Protocols to consider when redesigning the student experience to improve customer service and accommodate a more structured student academic experience, and
  • Overarching workforce/labor market issues as they relate to advising, career exploration and student success.
