Ceremony Details for Graduates

Brookhaven College Commencement Ceremony

Commencement ceremonies have been postponed at this time.

Comerica Center
2601 Avenue of the Stars
Frisco, TX 75034

Doors open at 4:45 p.m.
Ceremony begins promptly at 6 p.m.
Graduate Check-in: 4:45 p.m.

Graduates will enter through the loading dock entrance at the southwest corner of the building, between the arena and parking garage E. At the loading dock door, all graduates will go through a metal detector. You will be asked to return any restricted items to your vehicle. Guests will not be allowed in the graduate check-in or robing areas. Do not bring purses, bags or valuables.

**Late graduates will not be able to participate in the procession into the arena and be seated with other graduates.

What to Wear–What to Bring

Information regarding the proper wearing of your cap and gown has been provided under the ceremony do's and don'ts. Personal belongings should be left with your family or in the trunk of your car.  Belongings may not be left in the robing or check-in areas during the ceremony.  The only item you will carry into the ceremony will be your name card.  Cell phones must be turned off and put away during the ceremony.

Wear comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing under your gown.

Guest Information

Please let your guests know the arena floor is reserved for graduates and approved college employees only. Guests will not be allowed in the graduate check-in area.  Rest rooms are available for graduate use in the secure check-in area. Parking and Directions

Allow a minimum of 45 minutes drive time from Brookhaven College. 

Directions to Comerica Center from Brookhaven College (via Dallas North Tollway):

Take a left at the east campus exit on to Alpha Road. Take Alpha Road to the Dallas North Tollway. Get on Dallas North Tollway going North from Alpha Road. (8 min 2.5 mi) 
Follow Dallas North Tollway northbound to Dallas Pkwy. in Frisco. (10 min 11.3 mi) 
Take the exit toward Gaylord Parkway/Warren Parkway from Dallas North Tollway northbound. 
Follow service road to Gaylord Parkway. (2 min 0.5 mi) 
Turn right and the Comerica Center parking garage E will be about one block on the right.

Directions to Comerica Center from Brookhaven College (no tolls):

Take a left at the east campus exit on to Alpha Road. Take Alpha Road to Midway and turn left. 
Take Midway Rd. (briefly Tennyson Pkwy) to Communications Pkwy. in Plano (25 min (10.8 mi). 
Go left (north) at Communications Pkwy.  
Continue on Communications Pkwy with a slight right to get onto Dallas Pkwy. (4 min (1.1 mi). Dallas Pkwy. is the service road.  
Stay on Dallas Pkwy. to Gaylord Pkwy.  T
urn right and the Comerica Center parking garage E will be about one block on the right.  

Parking is free for the graduates and all guests. Parking garage E is available during the ceremonies.

Restricted Items

The following items are NOT allowed inside Comerica Center and you and/or your guests will be asked to return any restricted items to your vehicle.

  •     Food or beverages of any kind (including bottled waters and/or snacks)
  •     Flowers are permitted, but NOT in glass containers
  •     Signs, banners, placards, or mortarboards
  •     Balloons, beach balls, Frisbees, bubbles, silly string, glitter, confetti or laser pens
  •     Bullhorns, air horns, or any artificial noisemakers
  •     Weapons of any kind (including pocket knives)
  •     Animals (official service animals only)
  •     Monopods and tripods
  •     Wrapped gifts
  •     Umbrellas
  •     Any items deemed a threat to public safety

The Comerica Center is a drug and alcohol free facility. No smoking is allowed on the premises.

Photographer

A professional photographer will be taking individual photos of the graduates crossing the stage as well as backstage. FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY will be providing the photography services during the ceremony. You may go to www.flashphotography.com/docs/order.html and put in the Department Code of DP4 for event information.
