EduCareer Expo for Dallas ISD Graduates

Did you recently graduate from a Dallas ISD high school?

If you're nodding your head or doing cartwheels right now, listen up – this is for you!

You are invited to a special event on Thursday, June 22, at North Dallas High School. It's called the EduCareer Expo, and it will be open from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.!

EduCareer Expo – See Who's Going

At the expo you can meet with representatives from the seven colleges that make up the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD), including:

  • Brookhaven College
  • Cedar Valley College
  • El Centro College
  • Eastfield College
  • North Lake College
  • Mountain View College
  • Richland College

If you are curious where our colleges are located, you can see a map on our website. Of course you do not have to travel to campus; you can also take classes online from home (or from Hawaii  –  really anywhere) with our online classes.

Get College Info

At the EduCareer Expo there will be information tables to help you learn about career and technical programs as well as advisors to help you apply and register for college classes.

There will even be financial aid assistance – including a table about our Rising Star scholarship.

Pick Up Your High School Transcript

DISD will print transcripts in advance for all graduates to pick up at the expo. This means you will have more time to visit the college/program tables and get assistance with student services.

Who/What to Bring

Bring your questions!

You are also welcome to bring parents or family members. Sometimes this can be useful when learning about the financial aid process. If you were selected for financial aid verification, bring a copy of your (and/or your parent's) tax transcripts, W2's and any other FAFSA information requested.

Finally, bring your immunization records.

Get Your Meningitis Shot

The state of Texas requires bacterial meningitis vaccination for college students (details and exemptions here).

Garland’s Health Department will be on site to provide meningitis vaccines. Costs for the vaccine depend on your insurance status. Below is information on the private insurances Garland accepts and state programs offered.

Private insurance:

  • Blue Cross Blue Shields/PPO
  • United Healthcare
  • Cigna (PPO)

The above insurance carriers are subject to co-pay. Also, if you have a private insurance other than the three listed above the vaccine price will be $135.00.

State programs

  • Medicaid (for 18 and under) Free
  • Chip (for 18 and under) Free

Students without any medical coverage

  • Vaccines for Children (VCF) 18 and under $14.00
  • Adult Safety Net (ASN) 19 and older $25.00
