Timely Notifications

 In compliance with the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998 the Brookhaven College Police are giving notice of the following threat(s):

SPECIFIC THREAT:  On Sunday, Aug. 13 at approximately 8:26 p.m., a female contacted police to report she had been approached by a black male while on the jogging trail near the Valley View entrance to the college near the soccer field by P4 parking lot. The female told officers the suspect asked her for directions and touched her inappropriately.  

 

SUSPECT'S DECRIPTION: Suspect was described as a black male with short hair, approximately 5' 7" tall weighing approximately 225 lbs. Suspect was described as wearing red shorts and a red shirt.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:

    • Be aware of your surroundings.

    • Jog or walk on the trail in pairs when possible.

    • Notify police immediately if you see someone matching this description.

It can be assumed that conditions continue to exist that may pose a threat to members and guests of the community. It is the duty of the institution to warn of possible "dangerous conditions" on or near its campus, and at affiliate organizations off campus; an "affirmative duty" exists to warn persons associated with this college of possible peril at the hands of some third party or parties.
